Elle Jae McCaul

Elle Jae McCaul grew up in a musically talented family. She discovered her voice at a very early age in church where her father was the Minister of Music and her mother played piano and led several choirs. At age 12, McCaul, along with her family, moved from their home in Chattanooga, TN to a very small town outside of Nashville. This is when McCaul began, along with her older sister, singing harmonies and developing her ear while singing at the piano every afternoon after school. McCaul began singing publicly at age 13, realized her gift, and never stopped developing her God given talent.
While studying Vocal Performance in Music at Union University in Jackson, TN, McCaul realized her dream of singing, along with writing music. She began honing her unique sound while working with several musical groups and bands while in college and several years after. A chance meeting and acapella performance for the then President of Clear Channel landed McCaul a spot at Nashville Riverstages as an opener for Erykah Badu in 2002.
Several ventures in blues, soul, triphop, and rock bands, as well as touring and playing The House of Blues as a backing vocalist for several different bands, led McCaul back to her first love of jazz music. The jazz musical array of songs, specifically torch songs of the forties, were her favorite and where she found her home singing from the Great American Songbook.
Reminiscent of many of the greats who came before her, Elle Jae McCaul has a unique way of taking you back into the past, while taking you soaring into the future. She accomplishes this with her unique stylings that make her sound her very own. After a long awaited meeting with Toby Wright (producer) and Ron Browning (jazz pianist and vocal coach), McCaul embarked on a journey of recording carefully selected jazz tunes from the Great American Songbook with these two musical geniuses. The project took over two years to complete, but was well worth every second of the wait.
Thus here we are…and the journey continues.
